I also think of them as "token" helmets-I don't know how much protection you get, or even if it's enough to save you from a head injury, not to mention facial fractures. In Florida it's legal to ride without a helmet. I support that- let the rider decide. They have to carry extra insurance (in FL) to do it. My feelings are- there aren't enough organ donors to go around- if you ride without a helmet- I hope you're an organ donor. Same thing if you don't wear a seat belt, or go on an ATV at all. (Man are those things killers!!!)

The woman who headed up getting legislation passed to make it legal in FL to ride without a helmet is dead, two years later, from a head injury.

Now I have heard people who choose that kind of helmet over my Marvin the Martian helmet say that they want the peripheral vision, and don't want to decrease what they can hear. I'm not driving- I don't have to worry about that.

I am _proud_ of the US involvement in WWII. I guess I don't get the helmet/Nazi connection, though. I just think it's cool looking.
