31.5 miles...we were scouting out the second half of the route we're doing for the TE ride on the 30th. Got a couple of good hills in and a scary descent down Newport Coast Drive past at least twenty huge construction trucks that were parked in the bike lane. Ugh.

Short ride with DH this afternoon -- got home from airport, changed clothes, and out into the 99 degree heat! Only almost 8 miles, but boy did it feel GOOD! I think I'm learning things from watching those guys on the Tour this week, and I think a rest helped more than I expected. I was even ACCELERATING on my way UP hills, with no strain! So, then, we're tooling along, and I said to DH, they do this, and it makes them go faster like this, and then I went sailing past him on a down grade, and he hollered after "NO MORE TOUR DE FRANCE FOR YOU!!!!"

Exciting note -- he said we DO get OLN! Now to find it!

35 minutes of single track after work - not long, but very intense! It was 88 degrees and very humid, so I was soaked after I got done. Fun fun fun!

Made plans to go riding, then the rain started, but luckily it quit right before we were planning to leave so off we went.

Original plan was to ride the trail and back, weather held so we kept going. Made it up my measuring stick hill at the fastest pace to date

weather was a chilly 64 (we ARE trying to send it down to everyone so broke out the long sleeves

the wheat fields are starting to turn - just hope the rain came in time last week that the heads filled, sunflowers are starting to head out, canola doesn't look too stressed, so maybe it won't be a drought disaster around here after all.

It's about the journey and being in the moment, not about the destination

Met up with Yellow for a 10k time trial. Boy, that was HARD! Totally flat coarse, 95 degree weather, and a tiny, slight headwind on the way back.
I'm tellin' ya, Yellow sure can ride fast!!

Edited to say that DH just told me I had a brake rubbing the whole time trial! Grr! At least I know I can do better next time. Note to self: check your brakes pre-race!
If you can read this, take a pull.
