bikerchick68 "It's been weird... so wet out there it was hard breathing for a while this morning"

It's felt both oddly warm and cloudy and humid early. Maybe someone will sign the Kyoto treaty? Maybe not. Weather feels odd, I think as cyclists we are more tuned to the weather.

On days I ride to work the ride to is nice, on the way home can be very warm even at 6 or later on.

Hot... Yeah, this is Phoenix in July- so we get both hot AND humid!!
I had to fly to nor cal (brrr) the other morning, and as I pulled out of the garage for the airport it was 91 at 4:30 am!!!!
I was glad I wasn't riding that day!!
Saturday was a bit on the humid side, but not too bad for my 6:30 am ride. I'm sure it was at least 85 degrees, but it felt nice. However once I got around 2 hours it was clear it was time to pull the wheels up and head home. I actually felt a little ill when I stepped off my bike.
But my all time hottest was last week. It was 111 (yeah ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN!!!!) when I put my wheels down at 6:30 pm!!! On my way up the hill I didn't think I would make it, but I did manage an hour long ride. Tho I must say that I kept worrying about my tires exploding from the heat!!
It was also dry and I must say- not so fun!! That night I didn't see one other rider out! hmmm... wonder why??!!!
I think it had cooled down to 108 by the time I finished that ride.
Ohh yeah, summer is here!! For us zonies this is actually our off season, so nothing over 2 hours for this kid right now.

We haven't gotten the humidity yet, but it looks like it's on the way. I hope it helps clear the air. I know Sonoma County has fairly decent air quality, but it's much worse when it's hot and there are fires (the inversion layer I think the weather man calls it). Maybe I'm a wimp, but it had my eyes stinging a little. Spare the Air days suck for bike riding, which is sad as those are the only days they encourage people to stay out of their cars.

Yesterday as I sat in my office, I saw the cloud cover come in and I thought to myself "mmmmm, go ride tonight, it'll be cool out!". So I get home, change and decide to hit one of the local trails. Within 15 minutes I was totally soaked from head to toe. I had sweat dripping from my nose (yes so lovely!).

The only good thing about being so wet, after my climbs and I started the downhills, ooooohhhhh, I got cold! So the whole evening was hot, cold, hot, cold, hot, cold. About 7:30p it finally got really nice out and I enjoy the last hour riding around. I guess it's summer - boy I'm dreaming of Fall already!
