    My Ride With Sarah

Sarah was waiting for me this afternoon when I arrived home from my morning ride. We agreed to wait a little bit for I still had an errand to run and needed to grab a quick bite. When we ready I asked Sarah where she wanted to go, she suggested we ride up to the local grocery store. However, since she has never riden on busy roads I suggested we drive up to my school, park the car and ride the road out there (low traffic, small hills). So off we went. She had packed a leopard pattened handbag with a couple bottles of water. She proudly placed her new helment upon her head and I loaded the bikes in the back of my car. Upon arriving at my school we talked about how to ride safely on the road and off we went. At our first stop sign she proudly stopped, looked both ways and signaled a right hand turn. We had to make several stops along the way for Sarah to rest and take a drink. We crossed the local lake and she asked if we could walk down the path to the shore, so off we went. We watched the minnows jump and returned to the road. She was quickly wearing out so after a stop in the shade I suggested we turn around and make our way back to the car. Again, as we crossed the lake Sarah stopped and was so excited for she spotted a great blue heron on the shore. We both enjoyed the view and again returned to the road. The small hills were wearing away at Sarah's little legs so we opted to walk up the last hill. We safely made our way back to my car, loaded the bikes and returned home. Her father walked over to thank me, retrieve Sarah's bike and she proudly told him she had rode 3.42 miles, a record. It was a great way to spend my afternoon and I hope Sarah and I can again ride together in the future.

That's a great ride for Sarah! I like great blue herons, too.

    You go makbike!

Just think of the example you're setting for Sarah? One day she'll probably be picking up a little friend on their first bike and taking them down to the lake too!

And the legacy will continue! ^_^

Yesterday afternoon I looked out my front window and Sarah was on her bike, practicing. We live on a large circle (about .5 mile) and she was riding laps. When I took the trash out to the curb she was in her front yard and she told me she had riden 2 miles, she was so excited. I think the young lady has been biten by the biking bug

i'm thinking a very small (Sarah sized) TE jersey needs to be presented to the young lady.

OR a little TdF yellow jersey! I've seen those around at bike shops.
    no regrets!

    Very sweet!

How wonderful of you to take her out! Sounds like she loved it!
