The parent(s) did the only thing possible in that situation. By the time you find the camera, etc. your initial urge to kill the kid is pretty much gone & you can begin to see the humor in the situation - and the blackmail possibilities.

As I was kid, I wrote my sisters' name on the fresh painted wall of garage (and some paint ended on my dads' new BMW). I bet I wouldn't have been punished if they could have seen this picture.
