Cali! Get outta this thread immediately! sheesh... 3500 miles... LOL I know last year you put up some big numbers tho, so this probably does feel like slacking to you...

the rest of you have some pretty good excuses... I just don't. LOL... I'm not even making excuses anymore... if I don't feel like riding... I don't. Fortunately I am riding enough still to go out and do a long ride if I feel like it... I'm just slower up the climbs more than anything... ah well...

guess what? I'm not riding tonight either... (I DO have a meeting tonight at 6pm tho...)

I have really slacked off this year compared to last. I rode a lot more after work last year. Right now my excuse is the heat. It was 97 F last night when I got off work.

Speaking of heat, Cali, are you anywhere near that fire?? Stay safe!!

hi nina... about 25 miles away... so it shouldn't ever reach us! unfortunately... since it's in such a remote area.. .which is SO hard to fight.. they may not be able to contain it til it threatens or even consumes some more populated areas.... the sky is beautiful in an eerie sort of way.... the pics on the news/newspaper sights almost had me in tears this morning... our favorite mountain bike areas are burning! one of the guys we MTB with.. whose house we part at... was under mandatorey evacuation.. but thank god didn't lose his house.. just all his outer buldings....

Reminds me of lyrics to "Boulder to Birmingham"

"The last time I felt like this
    I was in the wilderness
And the canyon was on fire.

And I stood on the mountain
In the night and I watched it burn....
    I watched it burn...
    I watched it burn..."

So nice to hear I'm not the only slacker here. I'm supposed to be training for Bike Idaho which is in 2 weeks. I haven't been on the bike for a week.... Between work, my daughter's wedding (2 days after I return from BI), not wanting to ride alone, etc... And the weather has actually been great for riding lately... not to hot, not to cool.... anyway, a seriously certified slacker here.

Thanks for all your posts, I thought I was the only one who wasn't constantly motivated.

I have only ridden once in the last 10 days - with no good excuses other than I just didn't feel like it. (although for 4 days running I had to be at work at either 6AM or 5AM and I am NOT an early morning person so didn't accomplish anything when I got home)

I was looking forward to the club ride last night and wouldn't ya know it we got the much needed rainstorm, lots of thunder, lightning and downpours, so that ended that.

Today I needed to pick up an order and thought - it isn't a hard ride, save some gas and get er done. Also after reading this post I thought "I need to get moving again" I am doing CANDISC in 3 weeks so need to stay ready.

Did the ride, stopped at the LBS for some alterations, so now my new excuse is "both my bikes are at the LBS, I have not a thing to ride"

It's about the journey and being in the moment, not about the destination

    LOL

It's interesting to read all your answers, usually I just get depressed when I read how many miles you do every day an I'm such a lazy... this is really refreshing

I haven't been riding so much cause it's boring to ride alone every time. My darling is either working or tired of work. But when he has the time and will we have so much fun and we catch up for all the days I spent just sitting home and reading about your rides.

But, few days ago I met another bike rider (girl) so we drive now every day - so I'm out of excuses for now. I hope I wouldn't think of something soon
