I used to be religious about my gym/weight training workouts...then I found biking. Actually, I still use the gym for upper body and while I always say I'll do one LB workout a week...that's the one I usually miss! I do try though!!

My general goal during the biking season is three weight workouts per week to hit the full body. Back, biceps, shoulders one day, chest, traps and tris another day and then legs on the third day (with abs each time). The problem is that I've not been able to make a schedule work consistently. Basically, we try to ride when it's nice out and then I try to fit the gym in on the other days. Some weeks, that's only one trip to the gym!

Welcome on board. I used to live in Flagstaff and loved it there. But I did not ride at that time of my life. Now I am frying myself in Phoenix.

Yeah, I know. It's been pretty scary here. I am a few miles away from Baseline, but still. I definitely do not ride or walk there. I really hope to move to a small town one day, but unfortunately works keeps us in the desert for now.
    Thanks!

I started lifting weights 2 years ago when I was 45- I started with exercise bands and moved up to the 3,5 and 6 pound free weights. Now I use 8, 10, and 15 pound weights with more repetitions- 3 times a week - With 2 leg, 2 core and 2 arm exercise. I mix them up, so my workout won't get stale. I would say don't start on a weight machine unless you have direction from a personal trainer, otherwise you could risk injury.
I do have hand weights of varying sizes and bands leftover from my Jazzercise days. And I know how to use them. I'll gather it all together and give it all a shot. Thanks for the advice and encouragement!

there are actually some really nice places around it, including the resort i use to work at. great hiking, mountain biking, and road biking.

just to bad some bad things are happening around there.

This is exactly right. It is a pretty area. But I am not sure where exactly he is wondering. Baseline, as you know, is a rather long street. I wanted to start goign to Pointe resort there for swimming classes, but now i am worried.
