    No wonder I'm tired...

We've ridden 367 miles in 8 days. And this darn headache has accompanied me the whole way.

I'm glad today is off day. My plan is... to have no plan.

Sorry to hear the headache is still nagging you. Are you going to go back to the doc? How's your eye?

    Where do you head next?

Doc thought it was either migraine or occipital nerve irritation, maybe caused by my helmet. I kind of disagree with that since I've had my helmet on for 15 hours on a double and never had anything like this. I think maybe it's all the bug bites. That side of my head is just covered with them. It was worth the money to see him to confirm that it was not likely anything really serious.

Don't know about the eye. He looked at, but didn't give any advice. Warm compresses help. I'll survive. The swelling goes down quite a bit when ride, it returns when I sleep.

Bug bites??? That sounds awful! I thought maybe since you were less than thrilled with the first diagnosis that you might try for another one. But, I guess I wouldn't want to be going from doc to doc while on such a glorious trip. Maybe a clinic can give you something for the bug bites though. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon (like now)!

What a drag, Veronica. So you're thinking it's more like an allergic reaction?

Enjoy your day off! You guys are in Halifax today, right?

I get headaches when I'm dehydrated. But then, I don't ride as much as you do in 8 days!

It's definitely not a dehydration headache. This is too localized and doesn't respond to Advil unless I take more than normal.

I think it's a reaction to something - maybe bug bites.

Well, I'm worried about you, V. I hope it's just the bug bites--keep us posted--and that you and Cindy Sue are having a great time overall! L.

Since it's so localized, I have to ask. Been around any nailguns lately?

    Hope not.

Yeah... that's why I went to the doctor. He pretty much said it was not anything scary. My sister thinks it's shingles?!?! But shouldn't that itch?

Nova Scotia is incredibly beautiful and the people are wicked nice for the most part. Everyone we have dealt with has been very kind and helpful. Maybe they feel badly for us 'cause we're insane.

    hi everyone -

I'd say V is feeling better since she is now leaving me in the dust again.

Damn bug bites kept me up all night - that and the loud people across the way from us. They were laughing and talking loudly all night long and chasing each other up and down the road right behind our campsite. I finally had enough at about 4am and told them to "shut the f* up." I regret not being more grown up about it, but i was frustrated from being kept awake all night scratching my bug bites and listening to them yak!

Had a delicious blueberry scone in Mahone Bay. It was one of the cafes that Ann's cousin had recommended. I ordered a second cup of coffee and a strawberry muffin while we waited for the rain to subside. We chatted with a nice couple from PA who bought a house in Mahone Bay after a visit there a few years ago. They were both cyclists so it was nice to chat with them. Well the rain never stopped so on with the rain jacket and on with the show.

so here we are in Lunnenberg. Scrapped the campite for another B&B. V doesn't like the rain and I don't like the bugs, so it's nice to be here - although a heck of lot more $$ than the campsite. Now if only I can find a laundromat....... Oh and someone order up some sunshine please!
    Cheers!

I'm sending you non-itching and sunny thoughts! Cortisone cream works good on bug bites - have you tried that?

Sorry about the rain and the bug bites. Maybe you should keep treating yourself to B&Bs and ditch the campgrounds? I hope your headache and eye are better, V. No one can blame you, Cindy, for telling those jerks to shut the "f" up. Inconsiderate people suck as much as mean people.
