Well, I'm worried about you, V. I hope it's just the bug bites--keep us posted--and that you and Cindy Sue are having a great time overall! L.

Since it's so localized, I have to ask. Been around any nailguns lately?

    Hope not.

Yeah... that's why I went to the doctor. He pretty much said it was not anything scary. My sister thinks it's shingles?!?! But shouldn't that itch?

Nova Scotia is incredibly beautiful and the people are wicked nice for the most part. Everyone we have dealt with has been very kind and helpful. Maybe they feel badly for us 'cause we're insane.

    hi everyone -

I'd say V is feeling better since she is now leaving me in the dust again.

Damn bug bites kept me up all night - that and the loud people across the way from us. They were laughing and talking loudly all night long and chasing each other up and down the road right behind our campsite. I finally had enough at about 4am and told them to "shut the f* up." I regret not being more grown up about it, but i was frustrated from being kept awake all night scratching my bug bites and listening to them yak!

Had a delicious blueberry scone in Mahone Bay. It was one of the cafes that Ann's cousin had recommended. I ordered a second cup of coffee and a strawberry muffin while we waited for the rain to subside. We chatted with a nice couple from PA who bought a house in Mahone Bay after a visit there a few years ago. They were both cyclists so it was nice to chat with them. Well the rain never stopped so on with the rain jacket and on with the show.

so here we are in Lunnenberg. Scrapped the campite for another B&B. V doesn't like the rain and I don't like the bugs, so it's nice to be here - although a heck of lot more $$ than the campsite. Now if only I can find a laundromat....... Oh and someone order up some sunshine please!
    Cheers!

I'm sending you non-itching and sunny thoughts! Cortisone cream works good on bug bites - have you tried that?

Sorry about the rain and the bug bites. Maybe you should keep treating yourself to B&Bs and ditch the campgrounds? I hope your headache and eye are better, V. No one can blame you, Cindy, for telling those jerks to shut the "f" up. Inconsiderate people suck as much as mean people.

Cindy Sue- Bugs bad. Rain bad! People good. Scenery good. 2 for 2.

I know how you feel about campsites and noise. Sometimes others just don't care OR don't realize they are keeping everyone else up, OR are obilvious to the rest of the world (my preferred answer). Maybe you should invest in some (don't like, but use when needed) earplugs. I get the wax ones. Used them on the AIDS ride last year and it did help with the extraneous noise. At least I could sleep which is important when you've got a ride to do the next day!

I don't know what's worse- riding in the rain (which you both must be sick of by this time since it seems to be more rain than sun) or riding in the heat (we're having a hot spell back here in N California). Must have been about 100 degrees this AM in Walnut Creek, and that was just in the morning!

Thanks for all the updates, much appreciated!

Hey, V, somehow I missed that you went to the doctor. Glad to hear it. It could be shingles. For some people they're very painful, no itching.

I think of Nova Scotians as "my people", though my great-grandfather left there as a young man. I still have distant relatives there. Glad they're all treating you well. Perhaps they have a soft spot for the mentally ill...

Hope the rain and skeeters ease up. CS, I am deeply impressed that you held off 'til 4 AM to tell those morons to shut up.

Looking forward to the pix! L.
