Whose DNA is in the placenta? Good question. I did not know it was the baby's. I thought it was the mom's. Interesting.

Wellll...your DNA is yours, right? But they can tell who your mom and dad are (or aren't) by comparing your DNA with theirs. Sperm + egg = 4 cells that multiply and multiply and multiply...it is fascinating. Embryology is really cool. The whole kit'n'kaboodle of baby, placenta, bag of waters comes from those first 4 cells. Once those two come together, all bets are off. Sperm was dad's, egg was mom's, but now they're a new creation. Any wonder I dig my job?
