Oh, fish, I'm sorry. I was just playing around. No offense at all! Although I did read an article about eating them many years ago, and still feel pukey at the thought. You know, as I typed that, I thought, "I hope fish knows I'm kidding". See, lacking tone and facial expression...argh. My bad. Now, have all the male lurkers been thoroughly scared away?

What's it called when you eat yourself? Is that still cannibalism?

Interesting fact: Endocannibalism is the term for eating someone you know. Exocannibalism is the term for eating a stranger.

Good grief, as I re-read my post about not talking about placentas, I sound downright cranky! Not my intent. Sorry I gave you some bad moments there, fishdr. Some things that sound funny in my head do not translate well to the page.

Nanci, that is a good question. And, regarding placentas, of whom is it, really? The mom? The baby? The union of sperm and egg produce both baby and placenta, so it can't really be said to be of the mom alone. Makes me think of some animals who very neatly clean up the scene after the babies are born.

Well whose DNA is in the placenta cells?

Baby. Therefore, the placenta isn't "of" the mom any more (or less, I suppose) than the baby is "of" the mom.
