Doc thought it was either migraine or occipital nerve irritation, maybe caused by my helmet. I kind of disagree with that since I've had my helmet on for 15 hours on a double and never had anything like this. I think maybe it's all the bug bites. That side of my head is just covered with them. It was worth the money to see him to confirm that it was not likely anything really serious.

Don't know about the eye. He looked at, but didn't give any advice. Warm compresses help. I'll survive. The swelling goes down quite a bit when ride, it returns when I sleep.

Bug bites??? That sounds awful! I thought maybe since you were less than thrilled with the first diagnosis that you might try for another one. But, I guess I wouldn't want to be going from doc to doc while on such a glorious trip. Maybe a clinic can give you something for the bug bites though. Good luck! I get headaches when I'm dehydrated. But then, I don't ride as much as you do in 8 days!

It's definitely not a dehydration headache. This is too localized and doesn't respond to Advil unless I take more than normal.

I think it's a reaction to something - maybe bug bites.
