Well, this list could be rather long. I will try to be short:
The God Father - this one will aways stay the favorit
Scent of a Woman
Seven year in Tibet
The Wedding singer (it's just funny)
Must Love Dogs (my recent pick)

I love Japanese Anime! Truth be told at 38 years I still love Cartoons. "Spirited Away" was wonderful. And the Triplets of Bellevue I liked a lot as well even though it was odd. I just saw one not to long ago caleed something castle can't remember the whole name. Moving castle? Anyway it was good. I am going to check out some of these recommendations here, keep em coming!

I've tried to find it on internet pages but there is no croatian translation for the title of the film so I think it's not translated. Maybe I'll have better luck in video stores. Thanx, anywayOriginally Posted by crazycanuck

I'm with light saber - anything Studio Ghibli is worth watching - my favorite is Princess Mononoke - it is stunningly beautiful, but beware though it is animated it is quite violent. I love the fact that ideas of good/ evil are very blurry in the movie.
Other greats IMHO:
The Shawshank Redemption - one of the best movies ever!
Seven - Caution - extremely disturbing and violent.
Delicatessan - French, but so good you'll forget you had to read the subtitiles
Caro Diario - Italian, slow moving, rambling but strangely compelling - great music.
Jean de Florette / Manon of the Spring - French, 2 wonderful movies
Raise the Red Lantern - Chinese
maybe not great but really entertaining:
Office Space
Enchanted April - this movie is really sweet - not my normal thing, but for some reason I quite liked it.
Mystery Men - good super hero spoof
Ringu (the ring the original Japenese version - I haven't seen the US remake) - very scary in a suspense-not-gross and gory way.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Hero - even if you don't like martial arts movies this is eye candy to the extreme -it was so beautiful just to watch - plus I quite liked the story line.
given time to think I'm sure I could think of more..

Okay, I love chick flicks I admit it so my list of favorite movies includes:
The Quiet Man (an oldie by goodie)
The Notebook
Pretty Woman
Singin' in the Rain
Makbike
Not in order:
Rocky Horror (Richard O'brien ,another New Zealand triumph. Are we a sick race or what!?)
Casablanca (Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she has to walk into mine)
Shane (We have battered down words that might have been spoken...)
Sunday Bloody Sunday (But something... we were something)
Chariots of Fire (But [God ] also made me fast - edited to avoid masc pronoun for God)
The film at Te Papa (and not just for the Sibelius - one for the kiwi's)
All you need is love...la-dee-da-dee-da...all you need is love!
If you want a night on a coach with a box of kleenex definitely watch "Head in the clouds" with Cheriz Theron and Penelopa Cruz.
Another good movie is "Closer",
Napoleon Dynamite
Office space
Look at me ( independent movie-french)
Birth with Nicole Kidman
Under the Tuscon Sun
Unfaithful
Ah... we just have excellent taste...Originally Posted by Brandi

Can I add in... Witches of Eastwick (a bit of wicked fun)
How did I leave the Shawshank Redemption and Mystery Men... or Scent of a Woman and the Wedding Singer off my list? Excellent calls, Eden and Lenusik.
Napolean Dynamite - I didn't know quite what to make of that movie Newbie... would I watch it again? - yup. could I tell anyone what it is about? - prolly not!
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
LoL i just thought it was funny sort of "stupid" funny. Most of us have a little Napoleon Dynamite in us. I really liked the dance show part :-)
Another movie worth adding is Layer Cake.
Recent Comedy:
Hitch - don't miss the dance scene at the end. So funny!!
Wedding Crashers
Something's Gotta Give
Still funny after all these years:
Blast From the Past - Sissy Spacek and Christopher Walken
My Cousin Vinny - Whatever happened to Marisa Tomei? She's fabulous in this.
Mrs. Doubtfire - Williams was so funny
Charlie's Angels 1 & 2 - I don't know why I like these movies, they just make me laugh
Groundhog Day
Moonstruck - great cast. Cher missed her calling as a singer
Working Girls
Drama, sci-fi, & epic stories
Million Dollar Baby
Erin Brokovich
Shawshank Redemption - my favorite, still
Goodfellas - good story and great music
Pulp Fiction
Fargo - is this comedy or drama??
Se7en (Really, anything Morgan Freeman is in)
Aliens (or maybe I just like the chin-up scene...)
The Italian Job
The Abyss
Walk the Line
Oceans 11
Minority Report - if you can stand Tom Cruise
The Firm - ditto on Tom Cruise, but the rest of the cast is good
Pearl Harbor - clearly a "guilty pleasure" thing on my part
Dances with Wolves - I still watch this once in a while, and cry my eyes out.
The Age of Innocence. (I'm an Edith Wharton fan---this story has special meaning to me, and I think the movie really did the book proud).
Agnes Brown.
The Pianist.
Evelyn (I think that's what it's called --- Pierce Brosnan is in it, and it's set in Ireland).
Meet the Parents.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High---one reason: Jeff Spigoli (Sean Penn)--awwwwlright! Takes me back to the day, as does "Valley Girl," "Pretty in Pink," etc.

Oh yeah, I like that one, too.Originally Posted by mickchick
Not in any particular order, and I'll probably come back with more suggestions:
- Anything with Edward Norton in it ,except "Everyone Says I Love You" - he's not in it enough and it's a corny, Woody Allen musical (nothing against Woody Allen, I just don't think musicals are his forte)
- Boondock Saints
- Dogtown & Z-Boys - okay, I skated for a while, but even without that in my past, this is a great documentary with some awesome pre-Tony Hawk skateboard footage
- Dogma (actually, most Kevin Smith movies, pre-Jersey Girl)
- Ghost World
- The Usual Suspects
- Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas - the real Hunter makes a cameo!
- Orange County
- Repo Man
- Dr. Strangelove
- Bad Santa (also by the director of Ghost World)
- Being John Malkovich - just when you think it can't get weirder, it will
