There also one thing that I learned: do not piss off the drivers. Cycling community in Phoenix metro is rather large. Drivers become more and more aware od cyclists on the road. However, I always try to thank them when they give you right of way or just being polite. This only generates positive perception about cyclists. And try to ignore those who are nasty.
I bet that if we could openly wear the Road Thong we would not have any issues with drivers.
