my first fall - and of course, it happened in front of a bunch of guy cyclists

It finally happened. I have been riding clipless for about 5 years. I have campus pedals on my hybrid (flat on one side, spd on the other) and looks on my ruby. I had the ruby out this morning and was stopped at a light at a very busy cross street. A group of male cyclists were stopped about a half block behind me waiting for somebody. I had my right foot unclipped and was fussing with my computer when suddenly I was falling to the left. I had no time to get my foot out and went down in slow motion. Nothing hurt but my pride.

Yeah, it happens to the best of us! Did any of the guys help you at least? And where were you riding?

    chickwhorips "has the pride recovered?"

do they make "Brave Little Soldier Pride Cometh before a Fall Crash Recovery Kits" ?

"hopefully you didn't know any of those male cyclists."

    or want to.

but you never know, I took a gracefull FU fall on the Cinderella the year before last. Picked myself up, dust myself off...later on a climb a couple of women passed me (everyone does, I'm slow) and I heard one say "see! I saw her fall early in the ride and she's still riding and climbing"

So who knows, they may be impressed.

Oh, yeah, and some people of both genders really like rescuing people, especially tough yet vulnerable riders who get back on and ride, but could use a kiss on a boo-boo or two...although the married mother of (three?) slowly tipping over cuz she didn't clip out may not meet the "rescue by cute guy" criteria!

Hey, I'm sure married mother of three is married, not dead.

Sure she'd like rescuing or at least a concerned "are you ok?" from cute bike dudes.

Five years? First fall?? I wipe out regularly. Well...I ride dirt after all. Last week tried to hit a turn too fast and bam! Front wheel slid out in some sand and I went down- big scrape and bruise on my shin from my bottle cage. And oh yeah- right in front of guy in a pickup truck on the street next to me. Amazing how fast you can jump back up, isn't it? Once he left I poured ice water on my leg- ouch ouch ouch.

Glad too see it happens to a pro!! I have only been clipping in for a month and 1/2 now, and too a dump on the trail when I did get clipped fast enough at a car crossing. Some chubby guy on a cell phone was passing, he slowed to an almost stop, sat there laughed at me while on his phone and then took off. JERK.

Trying to make myself feel better knowing I could whoop his butt on a bike..it helps a little

I was so shocked and embarassed that I was up before they could have run over to help me and then the light changed and I hauled *** before they could even ask if I was okay.

I was in Glencoe, on Green Bay Rd stopped at the corner of Lake Cook.

Hey, Brina, I'm sorry if I sounded like I thought you didn't care about the cute guys being sweet to you. I just meant that you were probably good at taking care of yourself in the situation--sounds like you did. I can picture exactly the intersection. Hope you see that group of guys again, and look stunning as you swoop past them. L.
