See! And at least SOMEONE gets some romance!!

Another risk factor for my PE - about 5 months ago I replaced my 10 year old IUD with the nuva ring. Loved it (the ring0! Had to take it out, though, because hormonal BC (even the low dose ring) is a risk factor. So I am sans birth control! We shall have to be inventive while I weigh options.

Any suggestions? Last night, I was reading with some interest the earlier posts about BC. I knew I would be in the market. I did like the IUD, but for the last year I kept getting UTIs - at least 6 a year. My internist said she'd seen a study about an increased UTI risk with IUD. While my OB-GYN scoffed at that (and I know it is a totally different part of the anatomy), the fact is I have had the thing out for 5 months and haven't had a UTI since! So there's something to that.

My paralegal just had her tubes tied (she has thyroid cancer and is done having kids) and she thought it was a great procedure. With the anti coagulants, I don't think elective surgery is in my future.

Maybe it is just DH's turn to do something...

Welcome home MP! I'm heading over to OT to read the whole story. I say have HIM go for the "snip snip", but sometimes that's easier said than done. Mr. Fish says he'll do it once we move to a place with better medical care. We know too many people here that have had post-procedure complications. Ewwwww.

We'll definitely learn a lot from your experience with all of this. I'm so glad you're home and recovering.

Um, yeah, you know I'm a fan of the ring, but NOT FOR SOMEBODY WITH A PE!!! Ahem. Glad you took that out. I don't know what effect the anti-coagulants will have on your period. Maybe (again, not giving medical advice) a progesterone-only method would be good. Until Mr. MP gets snipped, of course, as we here at Thread Drift seem to have decided he should ! No elective surgery for you for awhile, missy. Interesting about UTIs and IUDs. If you get a chance to ask your doc about the reference, I'd like to see it. I cannot imagine why they'd be linked, but there's an awful lot that I don't know! Local inflammation in the lining of the uterus affecting susceptiblity of the bladder to infection? Hmmmm...anyway.

    Date was nice...you know what I say...MWBR. L.

PS: There is, of course, our friend, the condom. Plus spermicide, a winning combination. (Are all the BJ lurkers gone now?)
