    Whoa. That joke.

Mirena (now we're getting back to something I know something about! ) People like it. Main complaint is irregular spotting. Can't predict how much of a problem that would be for any one person. I use the NuvaRing to control my endo pain (the endo's rendered me quite infertile, so contraception's not an issue). I love it. It's easy to insert and remove, you (nor partner) feel it, and I have no hormonal side effects. You can put it in for 3 weeks, go a week without, and put in a new one, for "normal" periods, or do what I do, just remove the old one, put in a new one the same day, and never have a period. I do that to prevent the pain/bleeding/scarring from the endo, but you can also do it that way if, for example, you are going on a long ride and don't want the hassle. Both methods (Mirena and NuvaRing) are highly effective contraceptives. Mirena is progesterone only, so it's a better option for someone in whom estrogen use is contraindicated. Mirena can stay in for 5 years, so it's very easy to use. I'm also a big fan of the copper T IUD. No hormones, can stay there for 10 years, highly effective.
(Standard disclaimer: I am not giving anyone medical advice. This is not a substitute for medical care. Etc.)

Now, if that doesn't drive away any male lurkers, I don't know what will! L.
