Who said the pace was 16 - 18 mph (I think Nina may have mention that pace but the hills will slow her down)????? The pace is going to be casual - this is a training ride. The distance will be around 50 miles but will include some hills. I am a slow hill climbing. Most likely I'll be lucky to hit 5 mph.Originally Posted by chartman64
Anyway, this isn't an event ride. This is a slow training ride meant to get us out on the saddle for at least 4 hours and to do some distance. The plan is to have regular breaks although nothing like the long lunch break we had last ride. I am a firm believer of frequent quick stops and not a few long ones. I like to keep my legs warmed up.
Because there will be alot of climbing, regrouping at the top of hills and bottom of hills will be part of the stops/breaks.
And we will ride to everyone's level as long as you can make around 50 miles. Don't stress out about not keeping up.
My friend Jess (of the OC Rebels) is helping me come up with a nice course. It will include Newport Coast - not a hard hill, just long. If you can do NC, then anything on CB will be easy.
