I don't know--I wasn't wearing the HRM. It certainly felt high. I've never tried the electrolyte caps, but I'm going to get some. I'm telling you I was dripping sweat. It gets pretty frustrating, trying to fit in runs with my schedule. At this moment I WANT to just go ride as hard as possible, because I'm feeling frustrated, but instead I'm going to eat something salty and go lie down in the AC. Thanks, Nanci. L.

Wow Nanci - that condor article was amazing. Thanks for pointing us to it. I had no idea what was going on - I knew they were endangered, etc., but that story is incredible. I also had no idea they lived that long!

He's not the one that shot video, but has had sightings. They have had a few photographers come out and try, with no success. I'll have to ask when they're going to try again.

The condor powerline aversion training sounded pretty horrific.

Lise - maybe you should ask photo guy on a date?? Coffee or something simple, I don't know. That sounds like a not-so-fun run. Maybe it's just not a good day for running. I'm sweating just sitting here in my way-too-hot office. There's no air moving in here. whine. whine. whine. Stop rolling your eyes Nanci

I hope you all have a glorious evening - I'm heading home for more visiting with the in-laws tonight.

Lise - health issues are primarily related to obesity, heart problems, and diabetes, ...and poor healthcare, low income, and poor eating habits - all of which are intertwined.

Speaking of wine, on the menu for tonight is a new Chardonnay from an old favorite vintner, Chateau Ste. Michelle, or, possibly, one of my favorite red blends which I buy when I want something really cheap ($8) really good, really reliable- Bonny Doone Big House Red. Sitting in the fridge is my beloved dessert wine favorite, Bonny Doone Vionier Doux. It has to wait until the weekend. I am so pleased with my new method of wine label preservation- photographing them, printing them out, and gluing them into my log book. It's worked out so well. The log book is kind of like a mini diary, too, because I write what I was doing, even for the second, third, etc. bottles. So there is one from when we were at Fort Wilderness for the Florida Half IM, (I think that's the World Championship for the half) and from the night I finished my 600k brevet, and from Six Gap, etc.

For dinner is lo mein- house lo mein (chicken, pork, shrimp and beef) with no veg because BF can't even pick it out, and $2 extra beef and $2 extra shrimp!! Yum!! It lasts for two or three meals. Wish he'd hurry up and get home.

Time to take the babies out to graze! I really got eaten by ants when I had them out yesterday.

It's 93F here, but only 84 in the house, and 74 in the bedroom!!

The flowered Prana capris that I have been drooling over for a year, too expensive even on sale, have sold out in my size :-( Good thing I really like the Sugoi black flowered tank I bought to go with them, someday, a lot by itself...

But I _did_ buy a pair of Insport (what is that???) shorts at Sierra Trading Post only because they have a purple stripe down the side. I'm sure they will suck. But maybe not! They might prove to be the exception to the rule of you get what you pay for.

I have chocolate in the fridge, but I am ignoring it. A Mars Bar from SS, which I can't say I have ever eaten. When I was a kid, I didn't like caramel or nuts, and as an adult I like mostly dark choc, plain, but also in the form of truffles, or choc covered ginger or orange peel or espresso beans (only to be eaten in the safety of my own home!!)

I'm reading, in the bathroom, the Chris Carmichael nutrition book right now, and Snickers is an approved food! But I don't eat them- just passing that on for those who do.

I'm reading (out on the patio) a book called Nature Noir, about a ranger in the Auburn Dam area in California. I'm at the part where the runner gets eaten by a mountain lion. People on the ultra running list knew her. Can you imagine knowing someone who got eaten? If I had to die, I'd rather be eaten by a cougar than hit by a car.

I'm reading, in bed, the newest Stephen King book, Cell, where everyone on a cell phone gets some mysterious pulse that turns them into a kind of zombie with a group awareness- don't know why yet. Some people don't have phones, and leave their cities, walking only at night when the crazies are asleep. It's good so far.
