i use to be on some antidepressants a few years ago and found that they didn't work for me. i changed my diet around and started working out more and had amazing results.

like the other girls said just keep an eye out how you personally are feeling. take it easy at first and see how things are working. also, don't be afraid to discuss with your dr if its not working out for you. i went through a bunch of different drugs before one worked for me somewhat. i was a bit intimidated talking to my dr about changing but she was all about helping me and what worked out for me.

Starting on antidepressants last fall changed my life. I take cymbalta and was lucky enough that it works -- I didn't have to try different kinds.

I promise you I wouldn't have this bike and be on this forum asking about it if I hadn't started the meds. There's nothing to feel sad about somebody taking them -- the real tragedy would be if they weren't available.

Needing antidepressants is like needing insulin. Some of us have chemical imbalances and need the meds!

Another couple words, based on my limited experience with depression. 1) You might also want to "shop" for a therapist who works for you. I found one I learned a lot from, somebody who helped me see the world in new ways. In a way, this also turned the depression into a learning experience, not just a disease to recover from. 2) One aspect of the learning benefit was that the world post-depression was not just the old world minus the depression, but one with brighter colors and more interesting aspects than before. Not that I would recommend depression to anybody, but it does have some silver lining once you find your way out the other end of the tunnel.

If you can at all, keep riding, exercise helped my mood greatly. I took Prozac for a while after Remeron gave me the munchies (!!)
