Yesterday evening I did an hour long in-town ride. I don't get a lot of miles due to the starting and stopping but it is a pleasant ride. 11 miles.

I also did a little cleaning and lubing when I got home as it had been too many miles since the last chain lube.

I pretty much have been riding every day but yesterday had a particularly good ride.

Decided to go mountain biking with a guy friend who just purchased a new bike (Santa Cruz Superlight) and wanted to give it a try. My new full suspension bike is in for repair so I decided to take out my hardtail which I hadn't ridden for months.

Oh my gosh, I fell in love all over again. Have always love the HT but after months of riding the heavier full suspension bike and struggling, I flew around the trail, beating my friend up every hill. The weather was pretty nice. The trail in good condition and I was feeling good. Only problem was I finally remembered why stopped riding the HT in the first place - the rear wheel needs to be trued and the rear brakes started rubbing after awhile. My bike started to sounds kindof "wheezy". Anyway, did about 10 miles, felt good after and after I get the fully back will see to getting that HT rear wheel trued so I can ride the bike more often. I had a blast!

My husband and I did a STRANGE ride last night -- only about seven miles that took about 45 minutes.

    We rode around the neighborhood.

Up and down each road, each cul de sac, etc. in the whole subdivision where we live. Not much traffic, little hills everywhere, riding into the wind every few minutes, and all the turning around to go back where we came from, along with the "have we been on this road yet?"

I knew full well how to find home, but I sure felt lost and confused! I started wishing for some good long straight-aways so we could go faster and feel like we were actually getting somewhere, but there was an interesting kind of discipline (might be the right word!) to the ride.

I have to work tonight, but I think I would like to take this ride in one of the bit-more-hilly subdivisions in our area soon!

It is nice to look at all the houses, and we're kind of moving into a "renovate the exterior" phase of our lives -- painters due to start any day, and Earl's starting to look HARD at people's yards, thinking landscaping. His favorites are the rock gardens: no mowing!
