Where do you live: currently Princeton, NJ - moving to Denver, CO in November

Explanation of your handle: Came from my first AOL email address and stayed b/c it's easy to remember in these days of a username for every single website

Explanation of your avatar: Don't have one yet

    Age: 31

Favorite Bikes: Since I am new to cycling, I will have to say the 06 GIANT OCR 1w - because I am waiting for it to be delivered to me.

What's in your stable: My boyfriend's LeMond road bike, his GIANT MTB, and an old Performance MTB that has been adjusted and twisted so I can ride it.

Fastest speed on a road bike: how can you tell?

Another picture of yourself or your ride: don't even have 1 yet

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: when I married my now ex-husband, I said "I do."

Most memorable moment on my bike: trying to go uphill on my first bike ride since I was 11 yrs old, and thinking I was about to start rolling backwards I was going so slow - and also feeling like I would need to call myself an ambulance if I could catch my breath enough to be able to speak to the operator. Apparently my strategy of shifting to harder gears while going up hill was.....umm....backwards. Next ride was a LOT easier.

Most fun ever had on a bike: I expect to have tons of fun on my new road bike - fully adjusted to fit me. Yippee!!!

Hi everyone - I'm a new cyclist (road) I've been lurking around for a few weeks. This is a great board - there is an excellent vibe here and y'all are so supportive!

    Real name: Doreen

Where do you live: Seattle, WA

Explanation of your handle: My other favorite outdoor activity is mountaineering.

Explanation of your avatar: Haven't got that far yet... one of these days I'll get something up there

    Age (general or specific): 36

    Occupation: Engineer

Favorite bike: I'm looking forward to a custom bike some day

What's in your stable: Specialized Allez Pro and a very old Trek 7000 MTB

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 34 mph on Vashon Island about a month ago.

Another picture of yourself or your ride: Nope - not yet.

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I probably told a few good lies in high school when I was trying to be cool. Luckily, I saw the light and have been on the straight and narrow since.

Most memorable moment on my bike: On my second lunch time ride with coworkers, I pulled into the parking lot, forgot to unclip from the pedals and performed an excellent slow motion fall. It didn't hurt as bad as I would have imagined.

Most fun ever had on a bike: I still have the glow of discovering a new activity that I really like. Every time I make it up a big hill or increase my distance I'm pretty stoked. It's also hard not to have fun cycling on a sunny day up here.

Most memorable moment on my bike: About 3 weeks ago when my Beau and I rode 19.8 miles. I felt so exhausted, yet at the same time I had the most incredible sense of accomplishment. I'll never forget how that felt.

What's in your stable? 80's vintage Trek 720, Earl's old Schwinn something or other with the seat that won't budge and motivated the addition of two Specialized Expedition Sports -- one for each of us.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 26+ on my Expedition, which isn't exactly a road bike. Going down the hill away from our house. If I'm lucky, I can stay over 5mph on the way UP same hill!

I am trying to get back into cycling after having been out of it completely for about 6-7 years (divorce, remarried, moving, blah blah blah). Welcome welcome welcome one and all! Sorry I'm a tad late welcoming everyone. Nice to meet all of you and loved some of your comments!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Hi CorsairMac! Yep, I am Burque born and raised--DH too! I haven't ridden on the diversion channel in some years--like I said in my post, I have been out of riding for a while and am just now trying to get back into it after having a baby (who is almost 2 now!) and getting flabby. My plan at this point is to start riding in to work--that way I'm not really taking time away from my family, KWIM? I'm glad I found these forums--seems like a nice supportive bunch of women here
