Are you training for sprints? Or longer distance tri's? If it's just sprints, and you use to be a swimmer (?), then you can probably forgoe too many swim workouts and still do decent in a race.

I am not doing a whole lot of swimming since you are right, a sprint swim is not a big issue. I am doing an oly at the end of summer so want to make sure my upper body is ready for that. My biggest problem has actually been slowing down - my natural pace is faster than my current level of fitness can support over a long distance. Once I slow down I can do the spint distance. It has been kind of bizarre training to go slow.
