    Oh cheezzz...
    I'd forgotten about that song...

yeah- I'm a bit on the chunky side- and I don't want to be "ba-bow-bowww-ba-bowwww"-ing up the trail y'know? I want to feel svelte and quick and light- no matter how hard I'm a chuggin' up that hill....

    Hmmmm.
looking for more black widow-ish names....

Hey GrannieAnnie- Can I print out that signature as a bumper sticker for Miss Jeep? I think it's a good idea to spread around

I like Elvira. Look into having "Mistress of the Dark" put on the top tube and that'll keep you feeling all push up bra Goth with a sense of fun- the reason we like Elvira the bad movie hostess right? SHE would dance naked and shake her a$$.

    Name decals

    Hey girls,
If you want to have your bike names made up into decals, you can have them made up at Longscycle.com
They have regular and script lettering. The regular you have a choice of several colors and the script in black or white. I put "Melon" on my Surly because she's that beautiful watermelon green.
Check it out at their site.

Oooohhhh..... I do feel your pain, kimba. I personally can't think of another persona as suitable for a black Mesa than Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. We don't have that many fun bad girls, and a post punk/ goth Mae West is a wonderful thing.
How 'bout Lucretia Borgia? Write it on the water bottles (snicker)

The best name I've ever seen on a bike turned out to be a punk band bumper sticker. Said 'This Bike is a Pipe Bomb'- which is just right on a BMX bike. Course every body would go bananas over that today.
I need to name my Redline.

    Lizzy

Did you ever see that punk poodle in that silly movie she made? How cool was that?

maybe Punk Poodle would work for the Redline...

LOL! I'm sorry I set the tone for that. I guess I'm not the only one who associates her with that song.

So, I thought SilverSurfer was going to fit my bike but now I'm thinking Kimosabe might be better b/c its always faithful and gets me out of trouble and has a quiet presence.

No, I think a lot of people would do that.... That song is SO annoying it would just pop up in brains.
I had that Tom Snyder quote on my top tube for a season- and got to listen to knuckle heads tell me what an idiot he was. Put a damper on plans for Team Tom. Had great jersey drawings!

Having spent a life time listening to idiotic Liz Claiborne jokes (there's 14 of us in New Orleans, it's a common name in the family- feel our pain!) I think kimba should just go with Elvira if the bike likes it, and when people start on that song just bat her eyelashes and say "No, sweetie, wrong Elvira. This is the one with the great rack and the attitude". Said just right, you can intrigue them- and I think a Mistress of the Dark bike is a cool concept!
Mine is silver- and missbike an Art bike 'cause I got up a system for removable decals I could change when the mood struck (bike tattoos!). Few people got it- but it really powered up my riding so it worked for me. And it's my ride.

I did think of the name Lucetia at first- just didn't

Yeah- but what a BMX name!!! and the redline- oh yeah- it totally works! Just call it Pipe Bomb!

That baby names page is a great idea, it helped me decide what to name my road bike - she is only about 11 weeks old. Her name is Ciara.

I knew from the moment I saw her that my bike was female. She is an Alchemy with full Ultegra, a small compact frame and only measures 49cm in height (b/bracket to high point of top tube). She is also a beautiful greenish blue (aquamarine) with a sort of sparkling metallic finish. Nothing this delicate and beautiful could be male!

I never thought about naming my bike until I saw this thread and wouldn't have had any idea about what to call it. But, I bought a new frame a couple of days ago and the name just came to me during the shopping process.

I had picked out a frame and my BF asked the LBS guy if it was a women's specific model. The LBS guy said no, why do you ask. BF replied, well it says chick right there on the tube. LBS guy laughed and said that's the model name... Chic.

Ever since then, I can't help but think of it as the Chick. Since my friend and I call each other the two cool chicks and it's a pretty cool looking frame, I thought my bike could be the 3rd Cool Chick.

Names that just kind of come up like that are usually the best ones. It may be a kind of a "chick thing" to accesorize to that point, but then boats get names too. And they're all women.

I like Ausgirls name for that lovely bike. Ciara. For me, it reminds of those amazing powerful lightfooted Tolkein fairies, who have all the qualities you could want in a great bike. It all sounds like it fits seamlessly and works for you, girl.

And kimba- Pipe Bomb is somebody elses bike, a twenty year old who can levitate it over street barriers like jumping a fine horse over a gate. It's taken. And in all honesty, the cops here might go nuts. most of them are good guys, but their sense of humor can get very worn down. And it's a cruiser so if I ran an errand and left it locked up some fool would call the bomb squad and blow her up!

Here's a name- Jezebel. Just came to me. Hhmmm...........

    what do you name..

a six foot long blue bike that rides like a land yacht? It gets me there in comfort, not very fast, and has a big yellow bag for all my needs.

We named our sailboat, Overdue, because my husband was "overdue" for his own boat.

Maybe my daughter will come up with something. She names all the cars. She named my silver Impala the Silver Flash. Her sister's car is Lizzie. Her dad's truck is the White Wonder. I think she could come up with a name better than I could . I'll let you know.

Hey! I love that name too- and the fairy reference is totally appropriate!

I like Jezebel- but I think Elvira Mistress of the Dark is also totally cool and appropriate. I've been calling her that- and it fits!
AND- I went to a tint shop today- the guy there is a mountain biker too- he biked MOAB!! -so when he heard what I wanted the decals for he was really supportive. AND they can make up the decals in any size or font I want- I just have to choose the gothic type font I want and there it is- right on my top tube! Great eh? Price is really reasonable to- 10 bucks CDN for both sides. I just have to figure where I want the Elvira- it's got to be on there somewhere- maybe on her "creamy white bosom"-
remember- she has that cream coloured section?
    Appropriate huh?

yes kiddies- today's word is "appropriate"

I thought the Pipe Bomb name was just really ironic for your cruiser bike! It would be completely turned around, y'know?

Also- I don't think we in Canada are quite as uh..."gun shy" about that kind of stuff- I'm sure the cops here would care less. But then- we don't have the same terrorist concerns here. Strange but true. I remember pulling a water pistol on a couple of friends in LA- I thought they were gonna have heart attacks- but then- their point of reference is so different. They've seen shootings in clubs , drive bys etc. Here- it's just starting to happen in Toronto...

Thanks for the compliments on the name. Ciara is celtic and it means dark and mysterious. She's not dark, but a little mysterious as she is the only bike of that brand in our club.

Pipe bomb is a cool name. I don't think anyone here would really react to it either - they might just laugh and ask how it got that name!

Jezebel - lovely name, but it has very sexual conotations - things that make me wonder what sort of bike would be right for that name!

Elvira - does the bike have much black on her?
