Cycling to Milford Sound

So, I have a trip to New Zealand planned this winter. Although this will be my 2nd trip to NZ, it'll be my first to Milford. I've heard that the tunnel is long, dark & scary. I don't want to haul my super-bright high intesity light halfway around the world for one tunnel. SO I'm wondering if anyone has any first hand experience/advice to offer.
