    Ride Report June 15

Well, i dont usually post to here for my little commute rides, but THIS commute ride was on my new Bianchi. It really moves nice and I am excited about
having more opportunities to ride it. My hands hurt like the ****ens though because i am leaning too far down on them and my seat is higher than my hands.

I have to call the LBS back again and see if they got that part in that will
pull the handlebars up even higher for me.
I just don't get it. These ram's horn handlebars are counter-intuitive to me.
The brakes are in way way the wrong place.

I might never be a road bike rider! It just seems like it would be so much b etter with "normal" (IE like on mountain bikes and cross bikes) handlebars!!

I think it might take you a while to adapt to road bike shifters. And not having a bike fit right probably doesn't help.
My ride: the usual. No Marine layer today, so I got to see senor sun. I'm gald I did a morning ride, as it will be probably close to 100 F when I get home

wow does it ever get too hot to ride home (seattlelite thinking that over 88 degrees would kill me!)

I had a nice ride today too. I did the Southwest Parkway Loop again this morning, although I went a little slower than I did on Tuesday's ride. My quads were tired today. We had a killer workout in our boot camp yesterday. I believe that we did over 200 squats in the hour. Gotta love the cross fit training program!

This loop is 22.2 miles and has plenty of rolling hills, as well as a few longer climbs with a 5% grade. Beautiful scenery and a nice shoulder for all but one section where we have no shoulder and plenty of cars ( large dump type trucks too) speeding by at sixty mph. Wouldn't you know there is a large hill in this section and one narrow bridge? It can be quite scary and should be avoided if riding in this kind of traffic makes you nervous.

I think it took us 95 minutes today. We had lots of wind and it was only in the high 80's.

I don't commuttee with my current job, but we try and plan short rides in july and August, as well as get an early start (like 7:00 am Sunday morning)

Did a lunch time ride today with an interesting group. There were 4 of us...two fast A riders, me (standing solid in the B court) and a girl who is new to riding but is a triathlete. I kept up well, but felt the need to not let the new girl fall too far behind. She hasn't gotten the hang of hills yet.

I almost ran over a groundhog as he swerved to avoid being hit by a truck...but no other incidents. We did 18.7 miles in just over an hour and it was FUN!

Yet anonther beautiful day to spend some time on my bike. Skies are blue, temps in the mid-80's, humidity is still low and a very slight breeze is blowing. I had planned to only ride about 20 miles today but once I got out on the road, settled in I decided to ride a little further. I explored a couple of new roads and ended up simply wandering around my county for about 2 hours. I got in 32 miles and averaged 16.1 mph today.

I got in 20 miles. First day that I rode in over 80 degree weather. I found a hill so steep that I was afraid to look at my spedometer! I KNOW what 25 mph feels like and it was faster than that. On the return trip, I almost made it up the hill. I got nervous, unclipped and lost my momentum. All with only 50 yards to go! The rest was fun and more hilly than usual for me. I live in a pretty flat land so any hills are a challenge. I am just starting to get the hang of when to change and which chainring to be on.

I rode 10 miles yesterday evening at Kiawah. I had a busy day and just kind of did the ride because I knew it was on my schedule. My legs were killing me from leg day at the gym. Luckily, today is off day and I'm taking a golf lesson. Woo-hoo! It's getting nice and toasty here -- in the 90s today and the real feel is 94 with 71% humidity -- lower than the humidity usually gets, so I'll take it.

Ya'll be good and have a Happy Friday!!
