    touchy stomach

My trail running workouts equal my mountain biking workouts weeky. I cannot eat anything a couple of hours before I run except GU, and sometimes, my stomach is touchy afterwards.

It was worse when I first started running regularly about 6 months ago.

I can eat anything before I mountain bike, but not running.

I hope that you work it out, I love running now.

    Agreed

Food gets bounced around too much while running. I could eat a whole meal on the bike and keep going. I second gels and water for hydration/electrolytes.

Your best bet is to experiment in low doses.

Well, did my first jog (much more walking) tonight and it worked out ok! I ate dinner around an hour and a half before going. Maybe the fact that I walked more than jogged helped, but my stomach didn't hurt! Did get a stitch in my side two times though...didn't last long.

I'm going to pick up some gels tomorrow and try those for energy right before the jog and see if I can endure a little more than I did tonight. Not going to push though!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I figured jogging bounced you around alot more and wasn't sure how to deal with that and eating!

For the side stitch, try alternating your steps so you don't always land on the same foot when you are inhaling. So:

    L-in
    R-in
    L-out
    R-out
    L-out
    R-in
    L-in
    R-out
    L-out
    R-out

Thanks Nanci...now I hope I can figure this out without falling! I'm so uncoordinated, I'm not sure if I can count off the steps and breathe at the same time...lol. No, really, you have no idea! I can't do Tae Bo. I can do the punches, or I can do the kicks, but I can't do them at the same time! My first few times trying the DVD, I'd be figuring it out, doing the kicks, and thinking I'm doing GREAT! and then realize I'm only doing half the move...lol.

I'm determined to try this for at least a month! I can always just walk briskly, but I'd love to be able to jog!
