Never underestimate the power of a scream. I've used it more than once to save myself from being hit. It might be worth getting that super loud horn that someone mentioned in another thread not too long ago!

I take the lane, too, at stops. I think it's necessary. That and making eye contract with drivers. I also agree with Grog's advice that a smile & a thank you go a long way.
