Red Hot - if you can do the Ojai ride, my rides will be tame. I'm trying to keep the distance around 40 miles but would like to push it up to 50. I'm also trying to keep the route as flat as possible but may add a hill or two next time if the weather is nice. If hot, it will be a flat and easy route. The pace last ride was very casual. This is a get-together ride, not a club ride. Lots of stops to regroup and check out the scenary. And I would definitely welcome a Ventura ride. I love the area. Cool Breeze is my favorite century!

    Redhot3368,

I just did Cruisin' the Conejo for the first time this month and LOVE that area!!!! I would love to have you lead a ride up there, if you'd like I can try to send you a copy of the route sheet for Cruisin' the Conejo to give you some ideas.... but I don't want to go down that awful, steep, scary decent... UGH!

I'm already in big trouble with DH for planning so many rides in July so perhaps you could plan/do the end of august ride? (the 26th???) I can still do a ride at the end of July but it would need to be closer to home so I'm not gone from sun-up to sun-down.

I can't wait to hear all about the Ojai metric! What a beautiful ride that will be! don't leave out any details!!!!

Sounds Great!! I may have the route slip for Crusin'
Not sure though. I did the 35 miler that day.
I think that hill you are talking about is Potero Rd going DOWN towards camarillo...
NO thanks, I haven't attempted that on my bike, I can't stand it in my CAR...hahaha.

I will give you all a FULL ride report on Ojai....!!!

    Potero Road...

Yup, that's it! Scariest decent ever! The morning I rode it was very wet (as I'm sure you know) and they had just resurfaced the road (it was very smooth) and slippery. Definately a white knuckle decent and since I am planning to do the ride again next year I'll just say... once a year is enough!

Still needs some minor adjustments and I didn't get a chance to ride her around the park yet today. Off to my sons baseball game. Looks like I have to wait until tomorrow.

    Same day, same time?

In scuba diving we have an expression to sort of rationalize our loose way of "buddy diving" where if two buddies enter the water together, dive on the same wreck, and surface more or less around the same time, it "counts" as a buddy dive. It's affectionately referred to as "same wreck, same ocean" theory.

So to carry that a step further, the TE group could all be riding together - same day, same time, just different locations? To keep to the theme going I was going to say "same continent" too, but clearly that does not work as we have too many continents represented here.

Try to get as many of us as possible to all be riding bikes at the same time. We'd have to make some allowances for time differences, but maybe not too many. Figure out what time this ride starts using Greenwich Mean Time, translate it to your time zone, and have at it. It would be a hoot to see how many of us could all be cruising on our bikes at THE SAME TIME.

That is one beautiful bike!! Now you get to spend money on matching "stuff" to go with it.
