WOW! It's SUNNY at last in the Pacific North West (well, at my end of it at least!).

I'm going for a ride (I'll work when it's dark!!) and, I hardly can't believe it, I am putting on SUNSCREEN!

    Yooohooooo!

    Will report later.

18 miles on a shady paved trail, at 5:30 PM, with a new rider who had never ridden further than 8 miles. They met for dinner afterwards, but I didn't go, because I didn't have cool capris to ride in...(Not really!) Saw a turkey, a deer, the same bunny comimg and going, a cool green and black stripey snake, and a couple Gopher Tortoises. Also fell over in my clipless pedals!!

I didn't ride my bike, but I cleaned my chain. Can I log the backwards-spinning-thru-the-Cyclone miles on BikeJournal?

That is awesome the sun was shining up in the Pacific Northwest today! Perhaps I really can move there after all.

Having had an awful last week that has spilled over to this week, I decided to go on a quick ride after running errands and before the sun set cause riding always makes me feel better. In the spirit of trying not being a complete hill slug on my 40 mile ride this coming weekend, I did 5 miles of small hill sprints. Nothing like that climbing burn.

Nice day today, but it's suppose to get darn right evil this weekend! 110+!
Had a nice road ride this evening. I had lots of spunk tonight and it was fun. Just my usual cruise in the hood. I only have just over an hour b4 the sun sets and the bike must be back home, so I made the best of it. I have a nice new stretch of pavement, so I'm stoked for that. I was thinking as I was riding that I wasn't working hard enough because I wasn't sweating.. So I did the arm lick test. Ahh yes indeed.. I was one salty dog!
It's the one thing about being a desert dweller. Sweat bursts into flames when it hits the surface of the skin!!
Anyhoo 16.7 miles in 1:04. SWEET!
Yesterday was a mtb ride in the am w/ the boys. And then in the evening a 3.5 mile run around the lake where I met the boys for a game of tennis. I then spent another 45 minutes running around the tennis court getting good and sweaty! Big sweaty fun!!

Glad everyone got rides in today! I got a 19.1 mile ride in today...in 1:31...dunno if that's great or not, but it was faster than I usually do! So, I'm chalking it up to awesome.

Didn't almost die on the hills! Charged head on. Course these are not so huge hills, but usually slow me down alot! I'm feeling so much stronger and loving it!

Glad some of you had small rides today!

I ended up zooming through Stanley Park for two loops on the road, and having fish & chip with BF on the beach (he was back from a much longer ride, lucky him). We stayed there for a while and rode home (10km) together. Total 45 km on my computer.

... and now the bike is out to the bike shop for major tune up. But the forecast for Vancouver for the coming days is just ugly, so I'm fine with running for two or three days...

I finally got out on a ride agian too yesterday. With travelling (Wedding in WI, hiking in Wales), I've been off the bike for two weeks. So after work I changed into my brand new cycling shorts and shoes and took my new seat out for a test ride. Did my usual 18mile detour to the train home from work. Up over the highest peak in the county (a huge 100m above sea level!). Weather looked great when I started, but just as I came over the peak the winds picked up and then it started to pour. I was drenched and frozen by the time I reached the bottom and very annoyed at having strong headwinds when I could be whizzing down the only big hill for miles around. Then the sun came out again and I was more or less dry by the time I got to the station.

New shorts were nice, and the shoes. Seat seemed ok, but still needs a bit of adjusting. I'm ready to take a detour on my way home again today to try new adjustments and another of my new cycling shorts.

No riding for me for a week The ortho/sports med doc shot me up with cortisone in the left IT band and told me to chill. The good news is the MRI came back and my knee is a piece of art, in beautiful shape. So it's purely ITBS! Got rid of the SPD's as well, NEVER again! Just going to recover with platform pedals.

    Sorry about the thread-jack!

    Had a great ride!

Met up with my cycling club after work... at a place about 5 minutes from my work.

We pumped out a fast 20 miles. It was just perfect! I got a good sweat in and was home by 8:30 PM.

20 miles, 16 mph average, with a 15-20 mph headwind.

After you recover... you may want to check out Speedplays. Not sure if these would be good for your knees, but certainly something to look into.

I know they saved my knees!

    Best of luck in healing!

Small? You want small? 2 miles!

The usual commute: fast as possible mostly downhill to the train at 7:15 a.m. (hot already); strong as possible mostly uphill back home at 5:20 (still hot). But much stronger on the uphill after Monday's 8 miles. Miles are miles!

I finally made it out to explore my new neighborhood. I got in a quick 7 miles. There are very few hills here. I am getting nervous for my first week long tour since I ahve had zero time to ride.
