I would have gotten the pilot 2.1 wsd if it had this paint job - it is much better than the black with pink writing.

It's beautiful! The saddle and handle bar tape I am lusting after would match it perfectly! I am drooling now.....

I recognize my LBS in this picture! I have seen this bike in their shop and although I am not a "pink" person, I find myself checking out this bike whenever I see it. I've also had lots of fun with the Project One section of the Trek website-- I just got my bike last fall and won't be upgrading any time soon, but it is fun to play around with the design options!

Did you girls notice (if a saw correctly in the "Giro De Italia"), the CSC Team all had pink handlebar tape. Maybe because the leader wears a pink jersey in Italy as opposed to yellow in the Tour de France.

Yup, you probably know it well! Did you see the grey/blue one too? I see that you are pretty new the board, do you get out and road ride at all?

Tracy-- I do have a road bike (got it late last fall) but my riding lately has been hit or miss so I don't have much of a mileage base (the bike has about 500 miles on it now) but I am working on it. I ride mostly along the coast between Camp Pendleton and San Clemente (through San Onofre) or on the Oceanside San Luis River bike trail. I am new to the west coast and not yet comfortable exploring "real roads" on my own.

The guys at that bike shop are great-- they did a great job fitting my bike and helping me with further adjustments even though I did not purchase the bike at their shop.

p.s. Yep-- I saw the grey/blue one too! I love that dot design!

    Caligurl,

I am not normally a "pink" kind of gal but I have to go touch that bike every time I go in there, there is just something about that darned bike! They are really starting to give me a hard time - especially now that I had to take it down and get pictures!

I still like my black bike the best!

    Terri,

When do you ride? I'm pretty new too (I took about 8 years off) and have been riding the wine country loop in Temecula and have also done a couple of rides in the rainbow/fallbrook area. I don't know about the Oceanside San Luis bike trail, where is that?

We are starting to organize some rides for those of us in SoCal so please come and ride. I would also be interested in riding with you if you are looking for a riding partner once in a while! I've been riding by myself most of the time and really want to start riding with others more often.

At first I was really turned off about the black Pilot 2.1 because of its pink lettering, so I said, "No way!" Well, I rode it, and it's now in my bedroom. The pink doesn't really jump out, and I LOVE the wheels! I'm a happy camper.

    kjay,

do you have pictures????? We wanna see!!! After I bought my bike and saw this pink one I actually did consider (for a second only) changing my mind and ordering a Project One Pilot! I've been very happy with my bike though so I did the right thing!

Tracy, here's my Trek Pilot 2.1 (and my camel). I am a bit confused, though, about which bike you have. Had I been able to get anything I wanted, I would have gotten a Project One for sure . . . orange, pink, and yellow. I hope the photo shows up, as I've not included one before.

Red face Love At First Sight

Oh my----I love the look of that pink and white bike
If I sat on it and it felt and fit as good as it looks I would have to just rationalize buying it. I felt like that when I bought my first road bike just 3 weeks ago--I bought the black and pink (and I love it) Pilot 2.1 WSD I rides like a dream. Is this Project One a "Pilot-WSD" style or is the Project One a "Madone"?
I was previously riding a hybid/comfort bike so the difference in riding my Pilot 2.1 makes me now "Laugh at the base of hills"
    Thanks for the Pic.

    kjay,

I think your bike is beautiful! I hope you have a pink jersey to go with it!!! I ended up going with the specialized roubaix as it was a better fit for me and I was able to get last year's model which made it less expensive. The pink polka dot Trek is a Madone 5.2 WSD 54cm triple. If I had gone with the trek I probably would have gone with a Pilot 5.2 in a red/orange combo (I've spent too much time on the project one site!) w/the polka dots. However, the bike I have is so far above my ability that it'll be a long time before I need another - and the roubaix is basically for the same purpose as the pilot, sort of a honda/toyota comparison!

Bikechick B - sounds like you and kjay have the same bike??? Its amazing how nice the new bikes are these days, every time I come home from a ride I tell my DH how much I love my bike! Of course he says "You'd better!" but I really do appreciate how it rides as I'm sure you are appreciating your new bike!

    Tracy

ps. all that said, I still love the pink bike!

Tracy-- I'd love to ride with you sometime. I'll PM you so I don't hijack your original thread! Thanks.
