    Oh no Amanda

    I let a loud "oh no" as I read it... all that lovely machinery (def go for full replacement value with insurers)

    Glad you and friends are ok...

    Amanda, glad you and your friends are ok....

    I have a Trek 5200 (WSD) and love it. First bike that ever fit me so well, but it handles great also.

    If you are interested in any details, feel free to PM me. I have also heard great things about the Ruby Pro but it's harder to come by this year as you said.

    Amanda;

    Get on the phone and call around. There are so many bike shops here in the DC area, I would think someone would have what you are looking for. If you call Spokes, ETC--you would only need to call one, they should be able to look at the inventory in their other shops. Probably the same for any shop with multiple locations. Save yourself driving time by doing the phone work in advance.

    Good luck and I'm glad no one was injured!!!

    When my bike was totalled after being hit by an SUV (with me on it unfortunatly) all I had to do was bring it to my LBS, and they wrote me up a damage estimate for the full replacement cost of a comparable bike,staing that frame was damaged beyond repair. Most bike shops will work with you on this, especially since they know you are in the market for a new bike. The insurance company very quickly wrote me a check for exactly what the bike shop quoted. I also submitted pictures of the damaged bike (close ups of bent part of frame, etc.). It took longer to settle on the medical stuff, but the bike part was easy.

    I am very gald that you are OK. Insurance WILL take care of the damages especially if you stay firm and do not give them any hint that you will settle for less.
    Btw, I love my Trek Medone SL WSD. It is great!
