Will the title get me in the enrigsh thread?
I'm supposed to do a century with 8,000 feet of climbing in 3 weeks. we started at 2600 feet and wound up at 8400 30 miles later. This was the back side of the worst climb of the ride And the "need for speed" folks waiting Miss Hill Slug to slog up it in 4 1/2 hours! and they actually didn't seem to mind! Coming down was fun. not! in between a 750 ascent halfway down, Hairpin turns, crazy drivers with large boats, and high winds on Mavic Ksyriums, it was a 'eyes wide open' ride.
It was the most climbing I've ever done in a day. The strangest thing was that my water bottle alomst fell out about 2 miles from the finish. I use a Camelbak, and carry Cytomax in a bottle. I last drank from it at the summit, and the descent had changed the air pressure enough that the bottle was loose in the cage.
I'm supposed to lead the beginner ride tommorrow. Hopefully, less climbing
