It's always good to be wanting more :-) Maybe the weather will be abominable and you can either go anyway (because there will be noshows) or be grateful! Or... get on the waiting list... somebody's bound to weenie out...

Auntie K, this happened to me.
I registered for the waiting list at about 2 p.m. on Monday. I don't know how many people have to drop out so that I could get in, so I, too, am not holding my breath. I am instead planning to head down to Panguitch with Yellow for the Desperado Dual.
I do have some LOTOJA experience, though. I trained for it last summer and dropped out just 30-something miles in, when the sleet started turning to snow. Half the field dropped, which is why I think a lot of people want redemption. The 1,000-cyclist field filled a full six weeks earlier than last year.
But don't reach for that doughnut yet! Desperado is two weeks EARLIER than LOTOJA, so that means two things. Perhaps a lesser chance of _snow_, and less time to train!![]()
It'll be my first double, so I am psyched and scared and motivated, but I'm sort of glad I'm doing the Utah ride instead. They DO time you, but it's not a "race." LOTOJA is just too full of uberathletes, and their skinny, hairless butts do nothing for my self-esteem.

Auntie K, I got a crazy e-mail today from LOTOJA! The subject line:Originally Posted by CyclaSutra

I got off the waiting list and into LOTOJA! Last-minute freak-outs aside, I am totally up for it! Did you get in? My "team" disentigrated, so maybe if you ride it we could try to ride together some.
I registered Cat 4 women.
WOO Hoo! 206 miles of fun, coming up on Sept. 9...
