I took a fireroad out behind my house for a 10 mile out and back. Climbed 1,000 feet in 3.5 miles. For you roadies this means full-body effort, pulling with arms– in saddle, out of the saddle, picking the perfect position to get traction on the back wheel, not lifting the front. Dancing with the derailers. Had to walk two short sections, but other than that a leg-busting, lung-bursting fantastic ride. Had to skirt a 4' rattlesnake on the way home! I kept track and only had to pedal twice all the way back.![]()
