Gift suggestion for mom?

Lucky me, I have an extra week to do my mother's day shopping.

I want to buy something for my mother in law that is a little more personal than just a card (she'll get one, but that's a given). Last year she started to get into doing a yearly triathlon, and she really looks forward to it. This year, we are doing it together.

So, I was looking at TE for gift ideas, and they have a couple of cool cycling things (keychains, necklaces, ornaments) but she's not really heavy into any one of the individual sports, more into the experience. I thought about getting her some of the tri socks at TE, but stopped short. I did think about getting her the cool bike keychains also, but she's not really a road biker, more of a casual biker (the MTB one might be more her style?).

Anyone have cute gift ideas? I'm open for anything that fits her casual biking, walking, and triathlon style. Anything else is fair game for me to buy for myself, I suppose, as is customary here

We had Mothers Day last Sunday - the second Sunday in May

I had no idea it was at a different time in other countries!

I saw those Polar bottles... now I want one. Good excuse!

Maybe I'll go down the route of stuff for her to train with -- the socks, the bottles, like a little goody bag.

And yeah, Mother's Day was last weekend, but we're visiting her soon, so I have extra time

What about one of those ID tags for runners? I don't remember the name or the site, but they were really cute. I know some girls on here have posted info on them.

An idea that is totally unrelated to sports but is nice for mother's day is to find a nice old picture of her as a child w/ her mother. Put it in really nice frame and she'll be in tears when she opens it (if she's the emotional type)

I tried to get my husband to go down the touchy-feely stuff (pictures, frames, etc) route but he just says "I don't know" (typical :P). I'm going to go for fun this time, but I love making and giving gifts that are really personal. Great idea.

Does she have a Camelback? Maybe she'd like just a simple one, and you could put the stuff in it! (I was trying to think of a way you could make a gift basket, with the basket being something she ocould use, too!)

Nope, she doesn't. Another good idea! I'm not sure of anything else that'd be big enough to carry a handful of things, short of just using a bag (boring).
