    first post op ride

I went for my first "long ride" since I had a lumpectomy a few weeks ago. It was great! Some pain when I hit bumps, but--overall o.k.!

I stayed on a bike path here in Amherst, went from Belchertown to North Hampton. I am sooo glad! My doctor told me to ride carefully for a few months (concerned about jarring).

Just wanted to share the good news!

    Stella, congratulations!

I somewhat routinely get lumps removed -- all benign, thank god. Six operations to date. First, I always treat myself to a really nice bra. Seriously, try to find one that provides support without just squishing everything in. I've found ones with a molded cup work best for me. I don't want any jarring - besides the fact that it hurts like heII, I vainly think that the less movement the smaller the scars are gonna be.

Good luck. I know that I'm always super-anxious to get back out there afterwards. Hiked to the top of Half Done in Yosemite about three weeks after one. You'll be FINE!!!!!!!!!!

pedal wench, thanks for the advice. I definately need a new cycling bra. I will go with the ones you recommend. I need the extra support right now.

I am also glad to hear that yours are always benign!

btw: I found out mine was benign.

Stella, congratulations on being able to get back on the bike. I couldn't think of a better way to recover.

Also, it is wonderful news to you and Pedal Wrench that all was ok.
