The ride with the fishlets is the best! I did a 15 mile ride with the PetitePois on her relatively new road bike and in some ways its more challenging than riding a century on my own bike! I want her to love it and have it be fun. I want her not to crash. I want her to make it up the hills. She and I are starting to get towards the pre-adolescent mother-daughter times of turmoil. I'm either the best person in the world or the worst. I'm hoping cycling can be fun through all that.

I think that having cycling in common is a wonderful way to keep a positive connection between the two of you. If/when she gets crabby - go for a ride together - with hills. It'll help her get the frustrations out and give you two time to talk (on the flats). That would have served me well when I was that age (so long ago).
I told DH that I want to go a-casting at the park this weekend, in the event I have forgotten the technique.
