One of the reasons I decided not to publish my own goals on this forum is that they are just that - my goals. I don't need the comparisons with anyone else's goals that are natural when you start reading through these entries. That said, publishing your goals on a public forum like this one can be good if it helps you to reach for those goals.Originally Posted by Robyn Maislin
I remember when I belonged to and rode with the Charles River Wheelmen (many years ago now...) being awed by the woman who year after year logged above 10000 miles. But then I realized that she commuted by bike year round. That's just not a place I'm going to go. Yes, I do commute to work several days a week during the summer- but I guess you could say I'm a baby and that I require decent weather and daylight for my commute.
When you compare your miles with everyone else's on this forum, don't forget that you live in the cold and dark northeast. I don't think comparing your mileage with someone who lives in a place where the weather easily supports year-round cycling is a fair comparison. Don't be so hard on yourself.
