Good and bad, today. First, the bad. Took a bad spill out on the road with the fat bike when I hit a patch of unseen black ice, unseen because the skiff of snow that had fallen earlier made it impossible to tell clean pavement from iced over pavement underneath. Not my worst spill by any means, but bruised shoulder and elbow. Ouch! I'll feel it in the morning. Time to be thinking fat tires with studs and, yes, they do make such things.

Now for the good which followed after my spill. Retreated from the road to try my luck out on the lake ice and discovered to my delight that all the snow had crusted over to the point where I could roll on top of it at good speed. Did four laps around the lake for a total of about six miles, all the while with snow falling. If we don't get more than a few inches of snow, overnight, should still be good tomorrow. Balmy 16 degrees, too.

Yup, winter snow biking at its best. Star, our Border Collie and my constant companion, thought so, too.
