I think Lucinda Williams is a great road music choice - especially the CD called "Lucinda Williams", and my current fave, "Essence".
The Subdudes - any of their albums
The GoGos - We Got the Beat
Sly and the Family Stone
Cake - any of their albums
Green Day - American Idiot
This list will change with mood, so I'll try not to edit it often.

If you can find them, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (punk band that does cover songs of all kinds of songs - from "Isn't she lovely" to "Nothing compares 2 you") are one of my favorites.
I always throw in some classical as well. Calms the nerves
Have fun!

I love Me First and the Gimee Gimees! Don't they do the cover of "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" I love riding my bike (or driving my truck) and singing that at the top of my lungs, over and over...
