Help for Large Head.. it needs pink!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Okay so I need a new helmet & tried some on at the LBS. The ladies were to small for me.. they only had XS, S, M. The guys or universal were okay but I really want a pink or purple helmet. I measured my head and I am 60 cm or a size Large. I was really disappointed that most women designs are for up to 57 cm.

Anyone know of any choices besides Giro Monza that have a pink or purple for a large head??

And on a side note I went to the LBS near where I work. I don't usually shop there, or at all becuase of this...

I went in and was asked if they could help. I asked for a pink or purple helmet.
    "For a child?" they replied.

    No for me.

"For you?" they replied?.. with that LOOK.

Well of course in their wide array of 7 helmets they didn't have a pink one. So he looked through catalogs for about 10 minutes & found nothing. I said thanks I'll keep looking and then he tried to talk me into one of theirs and warned I may find a pink one but it will be cheap and to watch out because it is more important to have a good helmet not a pretty one!

Then as I was walking out he called out to me that he had found one. For $24.99! He again tried to talk me into a name brand I didn't recognize for that price.

I said thanks and I'll think about it.. Knowing full well I could get a Giro and know it was good.

    Too funny.

it's in Euros but you should be able to order anyway. Someone here may even be able to find the USA website but I couldn't seem to locate it.

If all else fails, you could probably find a men's helmet in white or silver that fits you well, and then carefully paint it pink yourself.

    Pink & purple helmets

    Hey Jenn,

Were you looking for a road or MTB helmet?

In MTB helmets, there's the Giro E2 in lavender/white, and the Giro Xen in pink. The 2005 Giro Havoc also came in purple/white -- not sure if they have the same color for 2006.

In road helmets, I found the 2005 Giro Eclipse in lavender.

    Hope this helps,

    ~Cari

Hi, have you tried Specialized? They seem to have a variety of women's helmets in big sizes. http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqS...ipHelmetWomens hope this helps.

I got "the look" when I wanted a pink helmet, too! and I got it from a salesGIRL.

Actually, that really pissed me off. What, a middle-aged spikey-haired tomboy-femme isn't allowed to wear PINK?

I have a little head, and ended up with a Bell Vela Sport for "50-57 cm" head circumference. It's pink with white hibiscus on it. I paid $35.

    Giro E2 for me, too!

The lavender color it comes in is so pretty, sort of a between pink and purple. And it fits my head well. My head is less round, and more elongated front to back. My old Bell helmet used to press against the front of my head and leave red marks after even a short ride.

It comes in large, and it's $125 new, but you can find it on ebay for about $50...

    Good luck!

I have a Giro Eclipse in a pink leopard pattern, and I've seen it at Terry, and I also have a Giro Pneumo, which is white with pink flames. Oh - and I also have a pink and white helmet by Trek. Lots of options!

I was really close to getting that lavender Giro E2, but finally went with the Lone Star 7 instead, because Lance winning 7 TDF's is so amazing. The E2 sure is pretty, though!

    I had an Eclipse....

I had an eclipse in pink before I got the Bell or the E2... It fit well, but sat too high on my largeish head, sort of like a little mushroom cap.

I found that the E2comes down farther on my head and looks much more stylin'. Probably more protective, too.
