I have found that I have the best opportunity to get better by going on the "group rides" which are primarily male just simply because there are more rides available. I've been on one female-focused ride and it was more of a recreational ride (very short, easy ride) filled with trail-type bikes. I'm not sure why. I invite women I know who want to ride on the group rides, letting them know that they won't be the only women there and I think that helps.
