To me, that would be oddly encouraging. I KNOW I'm gonna be walking hills. Also knowing I won't be alone means I don't have to feel like I'm "letting down the team" or embarrassing myself. Now in my own mind, walking a hill still counts. I'm still doing the hill on my own power. But if the general opinion around me is that to dismount is a failure, then I wouldn't feel comfortable in the company. If "cross-training" is accepted, then any hill I do manage to sit up is a triumph, as is the ride as a whole in spite of walking other hills.
