Gave them a try on a trio of indoor trainer rides but they aren't for my feet. Insoles have never been used.
Can use Look, Shimano road cleats or two-bolt SPD cleats as well (just pop out the red block).

I used the size chart at Opedix (see photos below), I am at the high end of small, but the medium is a better fit for me with my build. These are incredible for running, love 'em. Excellent condition Tahoe mountain bike shoe. Great for trail (cleats or also nice on flats).
