Ms Jobob and Mr LeeBob witnessed the maiden voyage so the secret is out (plus I posted on BJ) and I've finally got pics of WrenchBoy’s new ride. After years of messing with a Trek 5500 OCLV frame that never fit and then weekly discussions with Seven about their painting process (or lack there of), his new baby is finally home. He picked it up at 9:30 Friday night and rode a century the next day with nothing but a big smile painted on his face. 3 miles into this first ride, he was riding no hands. The geometry was dialed exactly right and all parts, including the saddle and stem height set up to perfection. Can’t get no better than that.
The specs:
Seven Elium Steel and Carbon (some of the close-ups might show the cool camouflage pattern to the carbon)
Campy drivetrain
Seven fork and bars
Wheels from BFWG – White Industries H1 hubs, Sapim spokes and Velocity rims (highly recommend this guy, it’s our 2nd fabulous set of wheels from him)

Ohhhh - be still my beating heart!
(I was hoping I'd get to see pictures of Bubbas's new bike, but didn't want to be so bold as to ask...)
Credit for the fit should really go to Joe Santos, the owner of Davis Wheelworks, who uses a Serotta fitbike and is meticulous about measuring (even for stock bikes). We took in all of Bill's road bikes, measured each, discussed what he liked/disliked about each, and had 2 more fit sessions using numbers returned from Seven. Joe essentially forced them to match the position Bill wanted. At 57, he cannot take the long and low position Seven seems to starts out with. I would not get a custom bike from anyone, Seven or otherwise, without being able to go through this process.
The wheels came from BFWG (John Ackley) in San Leandro who we found through White Industries and had built my mtnbike wheels that Santa brought me this year.

Those wheels are 2 cross on both front and rear? Gee is that machine gorgeous.
Why? pkq has been nagging, erm, asking, on a regular and frequent basis. Seven has had some challenges with their painting staff so she's been listening to me vent.Originally Posted by bikerz

S/he's a work of art! Does anyone else think she (she?) needs just one teeny tiny touch of red? Makes me think of Russian paintings during geometric abstraction period. All that line and stark colors.

OK, why "Willie" instead of "Bill" or "Bubba"?
I've never heard anyone call him Willie.
Think black and white and free.
As far as porn, Joe took the bike out Friday night for a test ride and the heavens opened so we then had jokes about wet. It went downhill from there.
My dad does call Bill Willie but he is the only one so it really wasn't part of the naming process, as far as I know.

We had hoped the decal for "willie" would be red. I had actually suggested a red chop mark.Originally Posted by Trek420

Those hubs are works of art. Thank you for our bike porn 'pix of the day'.
I need a cold shower. But I have to get to work, oh the frustration.

OOoh, ever since I found out a few months ago that my favorite local LBS is also a Seven dealer, I admit to having a serious case of bike lust, and this does NOT help! Thinking of getting the frame and building it up as affordable.

The drive side on the rear is 3 cross. I love the little Sapim logo stamped on each spoke.Originally Posted by DebW

Wabisabi, if you do this go through a fitting process on some kind of fit bike. They eventually did what Joe and Bill said but the intitial set of numbers were for a very long and low cockpit for a 20 year old racer boy (not my sexy but ain't getting younger 57 yr old). Apparently, they do this for just about every bike. Joe would set up the fit bike on their numbers and then tweak it to the position Bill wanted. The geometry really worked.
