I am also concerned about the courage issue. Hopefully, if and when I get an 'all clear' from the doctor, I will confront that in a good way. For now, I am telling myself that swimming and soon walking/running eventually are all good and I will have more time on my hands.

Thanks again for the responses...keeping my fingers crossed for some good news next week (which would be that the healing is progressing...).

There is a Facebook page based in the UK for both men and women to share your experiences. Search Broken Pelvis Cyclists - quite a few female Americans on there - but the more the merrier. I broke my pelvis and acetabulum 3 years ago. Took me a year to get back on a bike - but managed 65 miles in one go yesterday without pain. Not bad for a 52 year old!
