Finished my first metric century on Saturday!

I rode Tierra Bella in Gilroy on Saturday. It was the longest I have ridden so far. Before this my longest ride was 41 miles. I felt good afterwards but I have to admit that the big hill kicked my butt! Of course the climb was worth it when we got to the other side and got to descend. Wheeeeeeee!
The weather couldn't have been more perfect! Next on my list will be Primavera, Chico Wildflower and then Wine country!

    Hey Shelley,

    Congratulations !

Didja see me on the Canada Road descent, after the Gilroy Hot Springs rest stop?

I think I may have been near where you were saying " Wheeeeeeee! "

Wooohoooooo! Way to go Isn't it so great to accomplish a new goal???

When I bought my bike I remember hoping that someday I'd be able to ride Rosarito to Ensanada... a 53 mile fun ride... that one is a cruise in the park now!

hey jobob... that outfit is HOT! that's pretty much how I feel at the top of every climb!!!

Jo, I missed this while I was away. I'm so glad Popoki bumped the thread. The beads are a nice touch.

Congratulations, bikergal, on a milestone. Perhaps we'll run into you at the Wine Country.

Hey Jo - you gonna be available with the outfit come June 10th? Doing a century here that they've routed a 2,000 elevation gain over 7 miles on mile 80 of the ride! I did see where they put a rest stop at the top of the dangblasted climb - but seeing that outfit there would sure perk up my spirits! LOL......maybe I'll clip the photo and just carry it!

and wooohoo bikergal!! there isn't anything in the world like riding those kind of miles and still feel pretty darn good afterwards! Congrats my friend!!!........now...when are you riding a century??
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

I haven't picked a century to do yet. I am training for America's most beautiful ride on June 4 and then after that I start training for another marathon. I'll have to see if there are any in the early marathon training days that I can fit in. Finishing a century is one of my goals for this year.
