It's 14F here with a solid pack of ice and snow, only the truly intrepid will venture out on a bike today!

Sometimes the best way to enjoy the weather is to appreciate the view out the window while you stay warm and cozy and dry.

    - Red hardtail 26" aluminum mountain bike, Bontrager Evoke WSD saddle

Forget riding, unless you are a sado. haha It's very cold today on Montreal. This morning when I left for work it was -26c. brrrr not counting the winchill. Will get warmer tomorrow though.

Last night, trying to sleep, we jumped a few times hearing the beams of our house crack from the cold. Dogs jumped, we jumped, they barked, we tell them to quiet. haha

So indoor training it is, unless you can find a good fat bike, when temperature feels better.

Our weather has been decent, but I signed up for some silly challenge to do 4 barre classes a week for the next 4 weeks and my legs and bootay are just not up to doing any riding after class...

I use these really cold weeks to concentrate on my other fitness activities. If there's a day that's 35+ with no wind and decent road conditions, I might go for a short ride, but generally, my outdoor riding ends in the middle of December and begins again at the beginning to middle of March. I substitute a hard step class for one hard ride, continue with my normal boot camp, and pray for snow so I can x country ski and snow shoe on weekends and maybe once during the week. So far, that's been twice so far, as we have had a snowless winter, pretty much. I also use my trainer at least once a week, and combine that with an occasional spin class. Each have their negatives for me, but I do a lot of intervals and one legged drills, which do help me in the early season.
I am really feeling out of sorts, due to the lack of snow. We will be traveling up north (where the snow is just so-so) for at least one, maybe 2 weekends at the end of the month/beginning of February. So looking forward to my nordic ski trip at the end of February, to the Methow Valley, WA.
