That's normally the language I use ... and I'm pretty sure that people who only cycle don't see a quarter of what happens. Running (when I get to face traffic and watch the drivers target me) has been a HUGE eye opener. When they volitionally steer their vehicles toward me I'm going to call it "trying to run me over" even if they didn't actually intend my body to go underneath their tires.
